Influencer Renovations Divide Historic Village

A Grade-II listed manor house, once a frequent backdrop for TV mysteries, has become a source of local contention following a significant renovation. The property, located in the village of Little Missenden, was purchased by investment banking strategist Hugh Karseras and his wife, a lifestyle consultant and digital creator. Their extensive modernization efforts, which included contemporary kitchen extensions and spa-style bathrooms, have reportedly upset some neighbors who deemed the changes 'garish.'

The couple, who have shared their ambitious makeover extensively on Instagram, aimed to update the 16th-century, nine-bedroom property. Mr. Karseras highlighted the improved functionality of their new kitchen, which now offers garden views and ample space, contrasting it with the previous outdated layout. They also transformed former outbuildings into a chic space for relaxation, featuring elements like bifold doors and reclaimed furniture.

The renovation, which took approximately 18 months, led to road closures and increased traffic, prompting an apology from the couple for the disruption. While some villagers acknowledged the couple's hard work and good nature, others expressed dismay at the 'garish' aesthetic and the public showcasing of the renovations online. The Manor House, with its rich history dating back to the late medieval period, has seen changes throughout centuries, but this recent transformation has ignited a debate within the community.
