A 58-year-old resident of Satna, Madhya Pradesh, has garnered local attention as the 'Pin Man' for a peculiar habit he has maintained for almost 45 years. He routinely keeps more than 150 sharp metal pins – iron, steel, and brass – inside his mouth. This unusual practice began in his teenage years when he chewed paan and needed a way to dislodge stubborn betel nut fragments from between his teeth.
Initially using matchsticks, he transitioned to pins, a habit that persisted and escalated over time. Sanjay Vishwakarma, the man in question, reportedly collects these pins from various places without purchasing them. He carries on with daily activities, including eating, drinking, and sleeping, with the pins constantly in his mouth.
Remarkably, medical examinations by dentists have revealed no signs of cuts, wounds, or infections in his oral tissue. While his mouth shows some damage consistent with prolonged betel nut and lime use, the pins themselves have not caused any visible injury where they are stored. This extraordinary case presents a fascinating subject for medical observation, as most individuals would find it impossible to tolerate even a single sharp object in their mouth for an extended period.
