A polydactyl cat, affectionately named Mama Mittens, has demonstrated extraordinary maternal instincts by adopting six orphaned kittens. Rescued and brought to the Helen Woodward Animal Center in California, Mama Mittens was initially with her own three-week-old kitten. She readily accepted the orphaned litter into her care, expanding her family to seven.
This compassionate feline nurturer, noted for her extra toes, now cares for her biological daughter, Socks, alongside her adopted charges: Flip, Flop, Jean, Jacket, Hat, and Scarf. Shelter staff have observed that Mama Mittens provides not only nourishment but also much-needed love to the kittens.
The seven kittens are reportedly thriving under Mama Mittens' devoted care. They will remain with her for a few more weeks to complete their weaning process. Following health evaluations and spaying/neutering procedures, all seven kittens will be ready for their forever homes.
