Maharana Pratap's Battlefields Crumble Under Neglect

The hallowed grounds of Maharana Pratap's defiance, Haldighati and Rakt Talai, are succumbing to neglect and decay. Haldighati, the 1576 battlefield, has been transformed into a wide highway, its historic narrow pass bulldozed and now choked with vehicular traffic and litter. Tourists treat these once sacred sites as picnic spots, oblivious to their historical weight.

Further down, Rakt Talai, the site of the battle's climax, is overgrown with weeds and marred by litter. Memorials lie in disrepair, and sewage pollutes the area. This neglect stands in stark contrast to the sites' historical importance, diminishing the connection for future generations.

Historians and locals decry the lack of government attention, noting that while other sites receive focus, Haldighati is left to crumble. The widening of the Haldighati pass has caused ecological damage, including deforestation and soil erosion, with scientific warnings of future collapse due to weakening hillsides.
