4 Dec
Summary
- Crowd movement plans verified for four Prayagraj railway stations.
- Over 12 crore to 15 crore devotees expected at the 44-day event.
- AI cameras, drones, and holding areas will enhance crowd management.

Preparations are underway in Prayagraj for the upcoming Magh Mela, scheduled to commence on January 3. Mela police have meticulously verified crowd movement plans, encompassing entry and exit routes, for four major city railway stations. Officials aim to complete all arrangements by December 15, ensuring a smooth experience for the expected 12 to 15 crore devotees.
The focus is on robust crowd management to ensure the safety and seamless transit of an estimated 1.2 to 1.5 million pilgrims daily. This involves deploying trained personnel at 32 static points and establishing clear entry and exit pathways. Modern technology, such as AI-powered cameras, drones, and designated holding areas, will be crucial in monitoring and responding to crowd dynamics.
The Integrated Control & Command Centre will play a vital role, supported by a dedicated team of experts. The crowd management blueprint draws inspiration from the successful organization of the 2025 Maha Kumbh, aiming to set a new benchmark for large-scale event management globally.
