The Madurai district administration has initiated extensive safety, crowd-management, and civic measures for the consecration festivities at the Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple. This month-long event is scheduled from September 6 to October 2, with the main ceremony on September 17. A preparatory review meeting, chaired by district collector Nishant Krishna, assigned tasks to various departments.
Police will manage crowds, establish CCTV-monitored control rooms, and deploy public address systems. Measures are in place to prevent gatherings near unsafe buildings and ensure emergency vehicle access. The Madurai Municipal Corporation will supply drinking water via temporary tanks and mobile tankers, alongside lighting and sanitation teams.
The health department will operate medical camps and have dedicated ambulances ready. The HR&CE department will provide amenities like free footwear stands, luggage storage, and live LED broadcasts for devotees. Holy water distribution will utilize drip systems and drones, with mandatory entry passes for officials and VIPs.
