Sukoon by Pardos Okas in Lucknow was reimagined as a vibrant, people-centric public space on Sunday, coinciding with World Environment Day. The street, usually busy with traffic, was dedicated to residents, drawing large crowds of families, professionals, children, and seniors who engaged in a variety of activities. The atmosphere was described as a welcome pause from the city's usual rush, offering a chance for relaxation and enjoyment.
The day commenced with a grounding yoga session led by Virendra and Shekhar, followed by a lively zumba session guided by SK Mintu and Mansi, which transformed the street into an open dance floor. Social media influencer Vedika Dwivedi noted the seamless shift from mindfulness to celebration. RJ Shadab kept the energy high with continuous engagement, while children were enthralled by Anand's magic show. A competitive tug of war added to the festive spirit.
Chief guest and Lucknow East MLA OP Srivastava emphasized the importance of such public gatherings in promoting healthy lifestyles and building community bonds, particularly for the youth. Beyond the stage, the area functioned as a pop-up playground with stalls for balloon shooting, archery, and hoopla, alongside creative pursuits like pottery and face painting. Sports zones remained active with badminton, football, and cricket, reflecting a comprehensive engagement with diverse interests and age groups.
