A heartwarming reunion occurred nearly three years after a San Diego family lost their beloved dog, Colby. Humane Law Enforcement officers found the 6-year-old Maltipoo abandoned at a Jewish Family Service Safe Sleeping site on September 8, 2026. Upon scanning Colby for a microchip, officers discovered he had been officially reported missing since September 27, 2023.
Colby's owners, who had reported him missing to the microchip company and nearly given up hope, were contacted late on September 8, 2026. The dog required treatment for fleas and a potential skin infection before his return. After receiving a bath, grooming, vaccines, and a wellness check, Colby was neutered on September 9, 2026. The family finally brought him home on the afternoon of September 10, 2026, overjoyed to have their cherished pet back after such a long separation.
