- A family pet named Mancs escaped during a trip to Belgium in August.
- The cat was found months later in a quiet village, thanks to a microchip.
- Mancs was returned to his delighted family just before Christmas.

A family's holiday journey took an emotional turn when their cat, Mancs, escaped in Belgium during an overnight stop in August. The Szentimrey family, traveling from Basingstoke, Hampshire, to Hungary, was devastated by the loss.
Despite extensive efforts, including posters and traps set by a Belgian non-profit, Mancs remained missing for five months. The family maintained hope, spurred by community support and online posts detailing Mancs' disappearance.
In late December, Mancs was discovered in the village of Veltem-Beisem, where locals leave food for stray animals. A microchip reader allowed rescuers to identify the cat and contact the Szentimrey family.
