Summary
- A lost cat was found two miles from home by walkers.
- The cat joined hikers and followed them for miles.
- A neighbor's quick thinking led to the cat's reunion.
A cat who enjoys walks with his family has been reunited with them after being found wandering on a moorland fell. Moonlight Sparkles, a seven-month-old feline, had been missing for several days after vanishing while the family was away on holiday.
The cat was discovered approximately two miles from the family home in Cowgill, Cumbria, by a group of walkers. The feline had apparently joined the group, following them for several miles across the wild terrain.
Russell Whelan-Smith, who was leading the walk, expressed his astonishment when the second car they flagged down contained the cat's owner's neighbour. This fortunate encounter facilitated the reunion of Moonlight Sparkles with his family, who were preparing Halloween activities when they received the news.
