King Charles Savors Whisky and Tradition at Mey Games

King Charles III recently participated in the Mey Highland Games, showcasing a cheerful demeanor while wearing a kilt and observing traditional Highland sports. He was seen enjoying a small serving of whisky and interacting with competitors, including members of the Wounded Highlanders. The Mey Games, established in 1970 to honor the Queen Mother's 70th birthday, are held annually in August at the John O'Groats showground.

The King has maintained a close connection with Scotland, the location of the family's Balmoral estate. He has served as the Chieftain of the Mey Highland Games since 2002, a role he inherited from his grandmother. This consistent presence in Scotland contributes to his sustained popularity.

Concurrently, Prince William and Kate, the Prince and Princess of Wales, were engaged in duties in Glasgow. They were accompanied by their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, who made their first public appearance in Scotland together. The family attended a netball match and a track cycling event. This summer break allows the children to participate in such events before Prince George begins his boarding school education.
