Comedian Admits Pooping During Childbirth Four Times

Comedian Katherine Ryan has openly discussed a common, yet often unspoken, aspect of childbirth: defecating during labour. The mother of four shared that this has happened in two of her four deliveries, aiming to dismantle taboos surrounding the birthing process. Ryan advocates for a more candid approach, emphasizing that these involuntary bodily functions are normal and not a source of embarrassment.

Ryan is now fronting the Andrex #MyLabourPoo campaign to address the stigma, as research shows many mothers fear or are unaware of this possibility. She reassures women that pooing during labour is normal and signifies that the birth is nearly complete. While acknowledging the understandable fear, Ryan highlights that focusing on a safe delivery is paramount, and the embarrassment quickly fades.

She also noted that her eldest daughter is nearly 17, providing perspective on the temporary intensity of parenting young children. Ryan and her partner manage their busy household with help, though she humorously admits they are tired and have no friends. Despite the challenges, she emphasizes the temporary nature of this phase.
