Despite the positive economic impact on artisans, the increased demand has unfortunately led to imitation. Machine-made pherans, often produced outside Kashmir, are being sold as authentic. While this trend benefits consumers with lower price points, it poses a threat to genuine Kashmiri craftsmanship and fair trade.
