Braj & Kashi Unite for Grand Holi Celebration
6 Sep
Summary
- Temples exchange Holi gifts of color and gulal.
- Braj's Rasiyaras to perform Raas and Flower Holi.
- Enhanced security measures in place for Rangbhari Ekadashi.
The vibrant Holi celebrations in Kashi and Mathura are set to embrace a unique cross-tradition exchange this year. The Kashi Vishwanath temple will send gifts of color and gulal to be offered at Shri Krishna Janamsthal on Rangbhari Ekadashi. In return, a special group of 'Rasiyaras' from Mathura will travel to Kashi. They will perform their traditional 'Raas' and 'Flower Holi' at the Kashi Vishwanath Dham campus, a first for the temple.
Rangbhari Ekadashi holds significant importance, marking Lord Shiva's journey home with Goddess Parvati after his wedding rituals. Kashi celebrates this with a grand procession and showering of gulal. Braj is known for its Lathmar Holi. This year's festivities promise a confluence of devotion and joy, with special arrangements for devotees including refreshments and cultural programs. Strict security measures, including a limit on attendees for processions, are being enforced to ensure a safe celebration.
