In the lead-up to Karwa Chauth on October 9th, 2025, Delhi is experiencing a surge in demand for mehendi services. Mehendi artists say the festive rush began earlier than usual this year, with booking inquiries pouring in over the past two weeks.
Women across the city are seeking intricate and elaborate mehendi designs to complement their Karwa Chauth outfits and celebrations. While some new brides are replicating their bridal mehendi, several others are opting for detailed henna motifs on their feet for their first Karwa Chauth. The traditional design of a "woman looking at the moon through a sieve" remains a popular choice among all age groups.
To cater to the high demand, mehendi artists like Soni Khan, who previously only offered home visits, are now setting up mehendi melas in Gurgaon. Raju Gola, a mehendi artist based in Raja Garden, has even expanded his team to 40 members to handle the surge in bookings at Karkardooma and Raja Garden.
Interestingly, the trend of home visits for mehendi application is also gaining traction, as women view it as an integral part of their Karwa Chauth self-care rituals. Freelance artist Yash notes that many clients are willing to pay a premium for the convenience and comfort of getting their mehendi done at home, with designs focusing on aesthetic, minimal motifs.
