Karnataka Celebrates 70 Years of Statehood with Honors and Festivities

Karnataka is celebrating its 70th Kannada Rajyotsava today, November 1, 2025, marking the state's formation in 1956. The day commemorates the unification of all Kannada-speaking regions into one state, symbolizing the people's shared language, culture, and unity.

In Bengaluru, the state capital, the Chief Minister has hoisted the red-and-yellow state flag, and the Rajyotsava Awards have been presented to 70 eminent personalities who have significantly contributed to Karnataka's growth. The awardees include actor Prakash Raj, former High Court judge P. B. Bhajantri, retired IAS officer H. Siddaiah, and Air Marshal (retd) Philip Rajkumar, among others recognized for their achievements in arts, public service, literature, social work, and sports.

Karnataka's rich cultural and literary legacy is also being celebrated today. The state is known for its dual traditions of Carnatic and Hindustani classical music, as well as its eight Jnanpith Award winners, the second-highest in India after Hindi. As an innovation hub, Karnataka continues to draw global attention for its progress in start-ups, IT, and other industries, reflecting its deep historical roots and ongoing development.
