The four-day Chhath puja celebrations in Kanpur concluded on Tuesday, October 26th, 2025, with devotees offering 'Arghya' to the Sun God. Devotees stood in water along the banks of rivers, canals and ponds to perform the rituals, using a soop (bamboo winnow) filled with fruits and offerings. After the prayers, the devotees broke their fast and distributed 'prasad' among relatives and neighbours.
Women in traditional attire arrived at the ghats before sunrise, carrying baskets of offerings. They performed preparatory rituals, worshipped 'Chhathi Maiya' and offered 'Arghya' to the Sun God. All the ghats across the city were decorated and illuminated, creating a festive early-morning atmosphere with chants, songs and devotional fervour.
One of the devotees, participating in her first Chhath Puja, shared her emotions, saying she had prayed for the well-being of her son and her entire family.
