Summary
- New church building approved by Johnstown City Council for 280 Ebensburg Road.
- Adequate parking secured by acquiring adjacent land parcel for 30 spaces.
- Construction expected to commence in July and finish within seven months.

Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Johnstown is set to commence construction on a new building following approval from the Johnstown City Council. The church's new location is at 280 Ebensburg Road, a site that required a zoning variance as it is in a residential area.
To meet Johnstown's zoning ordinance for new church construction, which mandates one parking space per four pew seats, Pleasant Hill acquired an adjacent parcel of city-owned land. This acquisition will provide 30 parking spaces, complementing the seven spaces already included in the building's design, thus satisfying the requirement.
With the parking and zoning hurdles cleared, the church anticipates a groundbreaking ceremony in July. Pastor Rev. Clyde Williams Jr. estimates that the construction of the new 148-seat sanctuary will take approximately seven months to complete. This project marks a significant step for the congregation, which has been holding services elsewhere since its previous building was destroyed by fire in 2023.
