28 Sep, 2025
Summary
- Kasidih pandal showcases Radha-Krishna devotion and Rajasthan heritage
- 55-foot high structure built with biodegradable materials, cost Rs 25 lakh
- Lifelike Durga idol from Kumartuli draws devotees' unwavering attention

The Thakur Pyara Singh Dhurandhar Singh Club in Jamshedpur's Kasidih area has created a spectacular puja pandal that promises to captivate visitors with its three-layered design. As of September 29, 2025, the pandal showcases the spiritual devotion of Radha and Krishna in one layer, while the adjacent layer portrays the rich cultural heritage of Rajasthan.
The third layer of the pandal houses a meticulously sculpted and intricately designed Durga idol, brought from Kumartuli in Kolkata. The devotees are expected to be mesmerized by the lifelike appearance of the goddess, as if she is alive. A group of 40 artisans from Bengal have worked overtime since August 1 to raise the 55-foot-high and 150-foot-wide structure, using biodegradable materials like bamboo, wood, coir, clay, sand, cloth, and cardboard.
According to the organizers, the Kasidih puja has been held since 1962, and the accompanying fair, which has been one of the attractions since 1978, is ready to delight visitors from September 25, when the pandal will be inaugurated. The fusion of devotion, love, and heritage is expected to come alive at the pandal, with the help of LED lights, mini lights, lanterns, and halogens that will light up the structures as dusk sets in.
