The terrace of Jama Masjid, typically inaccessible to visitors, was opened for a special Ramzan iftar hosted by Naib Shahi Imam Syed Shaban Bukhari and his wife Shazia Bukhari. This exclusive event offered guests a unique vantage point to witness the sunset over Masjid-i-Jehan-Numa, experiencing the spirit of Ramzan amidst the grandeur of the historic site. "The idea is to share the history and traditions of Ramzan with our guests," stated Syed Shaban Bukhari.
As the designated time arrived, firecrackers signaled the breaking of the fast, with guests commencing with khajoor, water, and Rooh Afza milk. From the terrace, attendees observed thousands in the courtyard, the sahn, engaging in the communal breaking of their fast. The evening, co-curated with designer Mayyur Girotra, emphasized the theme of peace and unity among people of all cultures and religions.
The iftar feast presented a rich assortment of traditional dishes, including various chaats, halwa-paratha, mutton nihari, haleem, and chicken biryani. Attendees also had the opportunity to offer prayers in a beautifully adorned space, with a mehendi corner adding to the festive atmosphere. Issa Saleh Alshibani, Ambassador of Oman, remarked on the beautiful atmosphere, having attended the event for the third time.
