An Ipswich woman experienced a rare and beautiful nocturnal event when a pack of Arctic wolves woke her from sleep. Jill Calver, 54, residing in the Chantry area, was awakened around 2 AM by a chorus of howls. She initially suspected a dog but soon identified the sound as originating from the 12 Arctic wolves housed at Jimmy's Farm & Wildlife Park, approximately two miles from her home.
Calver described the experience as "beautiful" and "amazing," noting the clear, unified howls that cut through the quiet night. Her husband also emerged from their home to witness the phenomenon. The following day, Calver posted on a local social media group, discovering that many other residents in the Chantry area had also heard the wolves, confirming the far-reaching nature of the sound.
Jimmy Doherty, founder of Jimmy's Farm, shared Calver's enthusiasm, calling it "incredibly special" to hear the "voices of the wild." He expressed delight that a local resident found joy in the wolves' howls, emphasizing the irreplaceable bond with the natural world.
