Indian Royalty Dazzles at Met Gala 2026

Indian royalty graced the Met Gala 2026 with Princess Gauravi Kumari and Maharaja Sawai Padmanabh Singh of Jaipur presenting a fusion of heritage and haute couture. Gauravi captivated attendees with a gown reimagined from her grandmother Gayatri Devi's cherished soft pink chiffon saree, expertly tailored by Prabal Gurung. Her ensemble was completed with layers of pearls and uncut diamond and ruby jewelry sourced from Jaipur's renowned ateliers.

Maharaja Sawai Padmanabh Singh, also known as Pacho, made an equally striking appearance. He wore a richly embroidered velvet coat over a bandhgala, a testament to hundreds of hours of artisan craftsmanship utilizing aari and zardozi techniques. A prominent sun motif, inspired by Jaipur's royal architecture and signifying his Suryavanshi lineage, was intricately detailed on the back of his coat. His jewelry incorporated traditional polki and jadau elements, subtly integrated into the design.
