Summary
- Garden celebrates diversity, mirroring the charity's mission.
- Students with disabilities actively created garden elements.
- The display achieved the highest score for community creations.

A garden at the Harrogate Spring Flower Show, inspired by Winnie the Pooh, has been praised for celebrating differences, much like the charity it represents. Horticap, an organization that equips adults with learning and other disabilities with horticultural and life skills, created the display. The timing of the garden coinciding with Winnie the Pooh's 100th anniversary was a happy coincidence.
Co-creator Erica Ward noted the narrative of Pooh and the Hundred Acre Wood as a home for everyone, mirroring Horticap's inclusive mission. Students were integral to the garden's creation, painting pebbles that formed a stream beneath a bridge. This joyous process involved discussions about the garden's elements and their relation to individual differences, with students returning home vibrantly colored from their efforts.
Other contributors from Horticap's Harrogate headquarters produced elements through crocheting and crafting model bees, emphasizing the charity's commitment to celebrating each person's unique skills. The garden was awarded the highest points ever for a community creation at the annual event, a feat expected to bring immense joy to the students involved.
