Brandi Jenkins, a graduate of the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation's Second Chances Program, has adopted a Thoroughbred filly named Princess. The filly, originally registered as 'Volatile Printer's Row 24,' was not suited for racing and was given a new name by Jenkins.
Jenkins, who grew up around horses, found purpose and peace through the Second Chances Program at Lowell Correctional Institution. This program provided her with farm work experience and a connection to horses, which she credits with saving her life.
Princess now lives at Sugarbrook Farm, owned by Sandy Holbrook. Despite her size, Princess has formed a strong bond with Molly, a retired pony mare, demonstrating the healing and therapeutic benefits of equine companionship for both horses and humans.
