The Hmong Summer Festival is set to return to Kiwanis Park in Sheboygan on July 18 and 19. This highly anticipated community celebration, which was canceled last year, offers a dynamic mix of cultural activities and athletic competitions. The event runs from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both days.
Athletic events include men's and women's flag football and volleyball, with significant prizes ranging from $400 to $2,000. A men's basketball competition offers prizes up to $1,000, and pickleball tournaments will be held across multiple age and skill brackets. A dance competition for middle and high school students features top prizes of $3,000.
While a soccer competition was planned, it did not attract enough teams this year. Festival-goers can also indulge in a variety of Asian cuisines, fresh fruits, and beverages from numerous food vendors. Stalls will showcase traditional Hmong clothing, toys, and other handcrafted items.
Admission to the Hmong Summer Festival is priced at $5. Children under 3 years old and senior citizens are granted free entry. Attendees are reminded that weapons, firearms, and alcohol are prohibited within the festival grounds, though a separate Tributary Beer Garden will be operational.
