Rossett Mill, a Grade II-listed watermill dating back almost 450 years, is on the market for £1.5 million. This historic property in Wrexham served as the inspiration for a painting by the renowned artist J.M.W. Turner.
Acquired by Brendan and Celia Wilson 17 years ago for £660,000, the mill was derelict. Following a significant investment of £250,000, they transformed it into a habitable dream home with four bedrooms, four bathrooms, and a four-reception room extension.
To preserve its historical character, the couple imported old oak beams from France. They also learned to operate the mill, using it to grind corn for bread. The property includes an ancient deed agreement allowing for water extraction from the River Alyn to power the mill.
After 15 years of cherished ownership, the Wilsons are reluctantly selling to relocate closer to their children. The mill, built in 1588, has a rich history, including being a community response to high milling charges imposed by the King.
