25 Mar
Summary
- Former animal feed mill and shop to be revitalized.
- New owner plans holiday lets, artisan goods, and workshops.
- The mill is a focal point for locals and canal boaters.

Di Fawkes, a cybersecurity professional who grew up adjacent to the Kingbur Mill in Audlem, Cheshire, has purchased the historic landmark building. The mill, over a century old, began its life producing animal feed and later operated as a shop until its closure in November 2024. Fawkes plans to breathe new life into the property, starting with holiday accommodation on the top floor while seeking tenants for the two lower levels. Her vision includes establishing a cafe, selling artisan products, and hosting workshops.
The revitalized mill aims to become a destination for both the local community and the many boaters who frequent the scenic Shropshire Union Canal. Situated near two pubs and on a renowned stretch of the canal known for its challenging 15 locks, Kingbur Mill is poised to enhance the appeal for visitors. The mill's potential will be showcased as part of the Audlem Music and Arts Festival at the end of May.
