6 Jan
Summary
- Heather Mills suffered a prosthetic leg brace malfunction during skiing.
- The accident occurred on her final run in Hinterglemm, Austria.
- She was able to continue work after the incident, albeit on crutches.

Heather Mills experienced an 'unlucky' skiing accident this week in Hinterglemm, Austria, where her prosthetic leg brace broke on the final run. The 57-year-old former model and Paralympic skier was on a work trip for her health food brand, No Bloat, when excessive speed caused screws in her brace to release, leading to a fall.
Fortunately, Mills escaped serious injury, though she required crutches for five days due to swelling in her residual limb. Her spokesperson indicated that the leg itself remained intact and the brace could be fixed with a few hours at a prosthetic clinic. The incident occurred shortly after she spent Christmas with her partner, Mike Dickman, in Brighton.
Mills, who lost her left leg below the knee in a 1993 accident, has a history of adaptive skiing success, including winning World Cup medals and setting a world record for the fastest disabled female skier. Despite past setbacks, including a dispute that ended her Paralympic aspirations, she remains a dedicated athlete and advocate for amputee rights.
