- Louganis is reassessing his identity and seeking new possibilities.

Greg Louganis, the celebrated Olympic diver, has returned to the United States after a period of significant life changes. He had relocated to Panama in August 2025, a move financed partly by auctioning three of his Olympic medals. Louganis has stated that a primary reason for his departure from Panama was the language barrier, describing it as the biggest obstacle to his adjustment.
Currently residing with a friend in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Louganis, aged 66, is openly discussing his financial concerns, particularly regarding food security and affordability in the U.S. He acknowledges that he "needed the money" when selling his medals, attributing the situation partly to management issues. This period of transition follows the sale of his California home last year.
Louganis is also undergoing a period of personal introspection, aiming to shed aspects of his identity that no longer serve him. He described himself as being in a "holding pattern" as a "seeker," attending various workshops and retreats. He is now focusing on finding answers within himself, inspired partly by friends who lost homes in wildfires last year, encouraging him to embrace new beginnings with an "open heart."
