Goa is gearing up for its annual Goencho Carnival, scheduled from February 13 to 17. This five-day festival promises a spectacular display of Goan culture, art, and tradition, filling the streets with vibrant colors and lively music. For 28 years, Raul Pereira from Quepem has been a dedicated participant, beginning his carnival journey in 1998. His commitment lies in showcasing Goan traditions, a passion ignited after winning a parade in Panjim with a float representing toddy tappers. This year's carnival theme emphasizes responsible celebration, cleanliness, and community involvement, aligning with the Department of Tourism's vision.
The much-anticipated King Momo has been elected, with Cedric da Costa set to lead the festivities. Expressing his thrill, da Costa shared his excitement for his first time as King Momo, with his ceremonial attire currently in development. The carnival parades will take place across various locations, including Porvorim, Panjim, Margao, Vasco, Morjim, and Mapusa, following specific routes from February 13 to February 17.
