Prohibited items include fats, oils, greases, wet wipes, sanitary products, and other waste that can clog and damage the UK's drain pipe system. Plumbers reportedly receive around 8 calls per month to fix these avoidable issues, with the average repair cost ranging from £85 to £275, not including the callout fee.
Experts advise Brits to only flush toilet paper and human waste down the drain, as the pipes are designed to handle these items. Using excessive toilet paper or flushing other materials can lead to slow draining or even burst pipes, resulting in an expensive and time-consuming repair process.
