Narrowboat owners are set to create a unique shopping experience as a floating market arrives in Staffordshire this weekend. The Fazeley Junction Floating Market will be held on the Birmingham and Fazeley Canal near Tamworth from Saturday until Monday.
Organized by the Roving Canal Traders Association (RCTA), the free-to-attend event will feature decorated boats moored together. Traders will sell a variety of goods directly from their vessels, including handmade crafts, artwork, food, and gifts. Volunteers anticipate over 1,000 visitors per day.
David Taylor of the RCTA highlighted the voluntary efforts of the traders who travel nationwide. He described the markets as "an eclectic mix of people selling all sorts of things." The event aims to draw people to the canal and encourage appreciation for the canal network's heritage, with boats showcasing everything from watercolour art to pizza ovens. The market will be open daily from 10:00 to 17:00 BST.
