Summary
- Parents sold possessions and home to travel the world.
- Children's education is maintained via curriculum and tutors.
- Family aims to visit every continent with no endpoint.
In May 2026, Dani and Tom Wooldridge, alongside their three children Olivia, Morgan, and George, sold their home and belongings to begin a round-the-world trip. Having previously enjoyed travelling, the couple decided to pursue this dream, which had been a recurring conversation but often deferred due to family and financial commitments. A positive family holiday in Thailand the previous year solidified their decision to research and plan the significant life change.
The family's journey began in Indonesia, where they experienced culture shock, initial overwhelm, and jet lag. They explored Bali, including Uluwatu and Ubud, before island-hopping and returning to Lombok. This period of constant movement took months to truly register as not being a return home. Their eldest daughter, Olivia, initially expressed apprehension about leaving friends and starting high school, while the younger boys adapted more readily.
Education remains a priority, with the children following the UK curriculum and receiving support from online tutors. Olivia has a maths tutor who previously taught her father, and the younger boys have a primary curriculum tutor. The family has given away excess possessions accumulated during their travels, refining their belongings to fit into large backpacks.
Currently, the family is planning their next steps, which include visiting Malaysia, seeing an orangutan sanctuary in Borneo, and attending a world-schooling centre. They also intend to travel through Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, and the Philippines, with visits from both sets of parents planned. The overarching goal is to explore as much of each continent as they desire, with no firm endpoint in sight, and a potential future stop in Tahiti.
