18 Jul
Summary
- An escaped savannah cat was found in a garden plant pot.
- The exotic cat had been missing for two months.
- The animal was located and identified via microchip.

An escaped savannah cat, named Blaze, has been found in a plant pot, concluding a two-month search. The animal had gone missing from its home in Norwich in May. Its sightings near Bramerton had sparked rumors of a large, exotic cat roaming the area.
Blaze, a hybrid breed known for its distinctive spots and pointy ears, was eventually discovered by a family who contacted wildlife rescuers. The cat was confirmed to be theirs via its microchip. Norfolk Wildlife Rescue reported that Blaze was taken to a veterinarian to assess a potential broken paw.
Savannah cats are a cross between a serval, an African wild cat, and domestic cats. While first-generation savannahs require a dangerous wild animals license to own, Blaze is believed to be a second-generation (F2) cat, which does not necessitate such a license.
