Instagrammable Cafe's Shocking Hygiene Rating Revealed
26 Mar
Summary
- St Pancras branch received lowest possible hygiene rating.
- Urgent improvement needed in food handling and safety.
- Cafe known for its pink decor and high prices.

EL&N, a cafe chain celebrated globally for its photogenic pink interiors and stylish offerings, has been flagged for significant hygiene concerns. The St Pancras, London location was recently inspected in December 2025, resulting in the lowest possible food hygiene rating. The Food Standards Agency mandated 'urgent improvement' in the hygienic handling and management of food safety, encompassing preparation, storage, and serving practices.
Despite its popular status among influencers and expansion into international markets like Dubai and Saudi Arabia, the cafe's hygiene standards have drawn criticism. EL&N has stated they are addressing the rating with urgency, citing issues related to open displays and implementing rigorous daily cleanliness protocols. They also noted that pest issues are a wider station challenge in the busy transport hub environment.
The brand, founded by Alexandra Miller, has also faced public backlash for its high prices. Previously, customers expressed shock at the cost of items such as a £9.20 slice of cake, with some questioning the value proposition of their purchases. This latest hygiene report adds another layer of concern for the establishment.
