Lovebirds Escape Care Home, Still at Large!

An elderly couple, Colin and Claudette Geraghty, have been missing for over a week after escaping the Ryman Nellie Melba Retirement Village in Melbourne, Australia. Colin, 89, and his 83-year-old wife, Claudette, left the facility on Saturday, July 11, and were later found in Maryborough, approximately 118 miles away.
Their daughter, Linda McKelvie, stated that her father, described as intelligent and capable, is confident he can care for his wife. The couple, married for 65 years, are reportedly staying in a motel and are unwilling to return to the nursing home due to their dissatisfaction with the arrangements.
Claudette requires round-the-clock care due to seizures and vascular dementia. However, the new care arrangements at the facility unsettled the couple, who reportedly do not handle change well. Colin, who can still drive, took them on a road trip in a 2015 Mazda 2.
The family is worried for their safety and has been attempting to contact them. Colin, however, assured his daughter via text on the day they vanished that he would ensure his wife's well-being. This is not the first escape attempt by the couple.
