Eid 2026 Date Set: Gulf Nations Unite for Festival
20 Mar
Summary
- Eid al-Fitr 2026 will be celebrated on Friday, March 20, across most Gulf countries.
- The announcement followed unsuccessful moon sighting attempts on March 18.
- Some nations like India and Pakistan may celebrate on March 21, pending moon sightings.

Gulf nations, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar, have officially announced that Eid al-Fitr will be observed on Friday, March 20, 2026. This decision was made after moon sighting committees across several countries reported no sighting of the Shawwal moon on the evening of March 18. Consequently, Ramadan will conclude after its full 30 days, leading to a unified Eid celebration for millions in the GCC region.
This alignment ensures that residents and tourists can plan their travels and festivities smoothly. Turkey and some African countries will also join the March 20 celebration. However, Eid al-Fitr in India, Pakistan, and a few other nations is anticipated to be on March 21, contingent on the moon sighting on the night of March 19. Despite a general spirit of celebration, Middle Eastern countries are expected to scale back festivities due to ongoing crises, with enhanced security measures in place.
