Easton Leisure Centre has reopened its doors, now looking "unrecognisable" after a significant £3.8 million refurbishment. The seven-month renovation project, a joint investment between Everyone Active and Bristol City Council, has introduced a host of new and improved facilities for the community. Visitors can now enjoy a state-of-the-art soft play area featuring a large slide, a dedicated women's-only gym, an expanded main gym, and a refurbished water slide.
The official relaunch event on Saturday was marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Team GB athlete Harry Aikines-Aryeetey. He expressed his honor in opening the revitalized centre, emphasizing the crucial role leisure facilities play in providing opportunities for young people to engage in sport and play. Aikines-Aryeetey shared personal reflections on his own upbringing, noting how such modern amenities could have significantly impacted his early development.
Cameron Bate, contract manager for Everyone Active, described the transformation as complete, stating that "everything you see when you walk in is brand new." The general manager, Noel Hickman, reported a "lot of buzz" around the centre since its reopening, highlighting the positive reception from the community. The leisure centre successfully maintained operations throughout the refurbishment period, ensuring continuous service delivery.
