Dublin's New Dog Bar: Pups Party with Pints

Ireland's first establishment catering specifically to dogs and their owners, Dolly's, has opened in Dublin. This four-storey venue offers a unique experience with its vibrant, maximalist decor, canine-themed artwork, and specialized amenities for four-legged patrons. Guests can utilize services such as a 'Madra D' or dog concierge to ensure canine comfort.

The bar provides a dedicated 'Doggy Pick And Mix Wuffet,' where an assortment of treats can be purchased, with a portion of proceeds benefiting the NSPCA. Various dog bed options are also available for rent, ensuring even the pickiest pup can relax in style. Additionally, there is an outdoor water tap designed for dogs.

Ronan Flood, co-owner, noted the increasing demand for dog-friendly spaces, stating that dogs are now considered integral family members. He highlighted the evolution from simply allowing dogs in pubs to creating comprehensive canine experiences. Dolly's aims to be a fun, Instagram-friendly, and female-friendly space with a party vibe starting in the evenings.

Strict rules, or 'petiquette,' are in place for dog behavior and safety. These include mandatory leads, a curfew for larger dogs at 9 p.m., and muzzles for restricted breeds. Owners are responsible for their pets' actions, including cleanup, and must seek permission before approaching other dogs. While children are welcome, they must also be supervised and depart by 7 p.m.

The venue faced initial criticism with a one-star review before opening, but Flood remains unfazed, asserting that ample alternatives exist for those who prefer dog-free establishments. He also addressed concerns about hygiene, emphasizing that health authorities have no issues with dogs in bars and that rigorous cleaning protocols are maintained.
