Summary
- Seven dogs walked 17km back to their village.
- A corgi named Dapang led the group of dogs.
- Temperatures dropped below freezing during their journey.

A remarkable journey by seven dogs, including a golden retriever, Labrador, German shepherd, and Pekinese, has captivated viewers after a video emerged showing them walking over 17 kilometers back to their village. The dogs navigated highways in Changchun, the capital of China's Jilin province, as nighttime temperatures fell below freezing.
A corgi, identified as Dapang, led the pack during their trek. The video documenting their return gained significant traction online, reportedly garnering over 230 million views. Concerns for the dogs' well-being grew, especially as one volunteer reported snow falling on March 18.
On March 19, it was confirmed that the dogs had successfully found their way home. Three of the dogs, including Dapang, belong to a local resident who had been searching for them for four days. She found Dapang on March 18 and subsequently located the other dogs.
The reason for the dogs' disappearance remains unclear, with speculation ranging from theft for the dog meat trade to being stolen for resale or simply wandering off. However, authorities later suggested the dogs may have wandered off on their own, possibly due to a German shepherd being in heat.
