Disabled Sheep Steals the Show at Couple's Animal Sanctuary Wedding
28 Oct
Summary
- Couple met and fell in love at an animal sanctuary
- Held their wedding at the same sanctuary, surrounded by rescued animals
- Disabled sheep named Bunny served as the ring bearer

Two years ago, Jake Ratcliffe and Rosie, a veterinary nurse, met while caring for rescued animals at Millington's Magical Barn, an animal sanctuary in Yorkshire. The couple's love blossomed in this unique setting, and they decided it was only fitting to hold their wedding at the same location on August 2nd, 2025.
The ceremony took place in a converted cow barn at the sanctuary, with the couple's beloved rescued animals playing a central role. One of the most touching moments was when a disabled sheep named Bunny, who was born without the use of her back legs, served as the ring bearer. Wearing a blue harness and a floral decorative pet wheelchair, Bunny walked and rolled down the aisle, charming all 60 onlooking guests.
"You could hear the collective 'aw' as she walked down the aisle," the groom, Jake, recalled. The couple had a special bond with Bunny, who had spent time with Jake in the weeks leading up to the wedding as they transformed the cow barn into a wedding venue.
The sanctuary, which has over 100 animals in its care, has become a special place for the newlyweds. "We met at the sanctuary, we fell in love here, we even got engaged here while I was bottle feeding a lamb," Rosie said. "It only felt right to complete the full circle and get married here."
