Comedian Diane Morgan Stars in Train Safety Film

Actor and comedian Diane Morgan is taking a leading role in Govia Thameslink Railway's (GTR) inaugural train safety film. The initiative by the UK's largest rail operator aims to significantly decrease the approximately 800 preventable injuries recorded each year throughout its network. Data indicates that passengers engaging in risky behaviors, such as sprinting for departing trains or attempting to stop closing doors, contribute to these incidents. Common station safety missteps also include issues with escalator luggage handling. A recent survey revealed that a substantial portion of passengers, 32%, were unaware of the dangers of running for a train. Gatwick Airport, Brighton, and East Croydon stations have been identified as having the highest rates of accidents within the GTR network. Samantha Facey, GTR's health, safety, and security director, emphasized the need for passengers to pause and travel safely, hoping the film will foster a greater awareness of ingrained risky habits that are often not perceived as dangers. The video aims to make travelers reconsider their actions, encouraging mindfulness to prevent injuries.
