A ambitious pet park in Delhi, developed in early 2026, has been stalled for nearly two years due to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi's (MCD) failure to finalize an operator. The 1.5-acre facility was designed as a comprehensive recreational space for pet dogs, complete with a day-care center and basic veterinary services.
The project's progress has been hampered by administrative hurdles, including the delayed formation of the MCD standing committee, which is crucial for approving rates and tendering offers. Even after a high-powered committee was established in June 2025, the proposal was not promptly addressed. Officials now indicate the proposal will soon be presented to higher authorities for a decision on appointing an operator.
Once operational, the pet park is set to feature veterinary doctors, a sand pit, a pet supplies shop, a café with a party area, dog trails, and a swimming zone. Dedicated defecation areas with lighting and rule boards will also be installed, addressing the growing need for safe, off-leash spaces for pets in congested urban environments. Medical, grooming, and day-care services will be available, with access requiring prior registration.
