Creator's Female Disguise Exposes Delhi's Nighttime Dangers

A recent social experiment conducted in Delhi brought to light the pervasive safety concerns for women on city streets at night. For two hours, a local content creator disguised himself as a woman, complete with makeup and a dupatta, and ventured out on a scooty after dark. He meticulously recorded the reactions and encounters he experienced throughout the night.

Almost immediately after leaving home, the creator reported being subjected to intense staring from men, including at a petrol station. The situation escalated with encounters involving men attempting to follow him closely and auto-rickshaw drivers deliberately maneuvering their vehicles in front of him. Cars were also observed following him for a period, intensifying his sense of unease.

The creator expressed growing fear and discomfort, noting that he was repeatedly approached or followed by cyclists, bikers, auto-rickshaws, and cars. By the end of the two-hour ordeal, he concluded that it is not safe for women to travel alone at night in the city, emphasizing the difficult reality of their lives.

The video of his experience has since garnered over 15 million views, sparking widespread discussion online. Many viewers commented on the stark difference between experiencing such unwanted attention briefly and enduring it as a daily reality. The experiment has effectively brought to the forefront the often-unspoken calculations and anxieties women navigate during ordinary journeys through urban environments after dark.
