Washington D.C. achieved a new Guinness World Record this past Saturday, December 13th, by hosting a mass kissing event. More than 1,400 couples gathered to share a five-second kiss beneath the "National Mistletoe" in the city's business district, setting a new benchmark.
This celebratory smooch-fest shattered the former record of 480 couples, which was set in St. Louis in 2019. Representatives from Guinness World Records were present to certify the achievement at the lively D.C. event, which also featured entertainment and refreshments.
The impressive National Mistletoe display, a 10-foot sphere adorned with greenery and blooms, was suspended 30 feet above the participants. Organizers highlighted the event's success in uniting people and showcasing the city's energetic spirit.
