- The car rolled 10 times, ending up upside down.
- He refuses to sleep when someone else is driving.

Dax Shepard recently shared an intense near-death experience from his senior year of high school. He recalled a late-night drive from Toledo to Detroit with a friend who offered to drive while Shepard slept in the back. The friend, maintaining a speed of 85 mph with cruise control engaged, unfortunately fell asleep at the wheel.
Shepard vividly described the terrifying moments as the car veered off course, hearing gravel hit the vehicle before realizing his friend had completely slumped over. The car then launched into the air, rolling approximately 10 times before ending upside down. Despite the horrific crash, neither Shepard nor his friend sustained serious injuries and were able to crawl out of the windows.
This harrowing event left a lasting impression on Shepard, who reported feeling a strange sense of calm during the chaos. He mentioned questioning his own death for three days afterward. As a result of this traumatic experience, Shepard maintains a firm rule: he never sleeps when someone else is driving.
