29 Oct
Summary
- Daniel Radcliffe's son does not know his father played Harry Potter.
- He failed to recognize himself on a Harry Potter DVD cover.
- Radcliffe wants to preserve his 'Dad' role for as long as possible.
Daniel Radcliffe, globally recognized as the 'Boy Who Lived,' has intentionally kept his Harry Potter fame hidden from his young son. The actor revealed that his child does not yet know he portrayed the iconic wizard on screen.
During a conversation, Radcliffe shared that his son failed to recognize him on a Harry Potter DVD cover, a moment he found joyful. He expressed a desire to remain simply 'Dad' in his son's eyes for as long as possible, prioritizing this personal role over his celebrity status.
Radcliffe and his partner, Erin Darke, welcomed their son in April 2023, maintaining a private family life. The actor is open to his son discovering Harry Potter independently, suggesting they could read the books together or he might watch the forthcoming HBO series instead of the original films.
This approach highlights a thoughtful parenting strategy concerning privacy for children of public figures. Radcliffe, who became famous as a child himself, seems keen on allowing his son to develop his own identity without the immediate influence of his parent's global fame.
