James Madeley, 36, is concluding a remarkable year-long challenge of swimming in the sea every single day. This personal endeavor was undertaken to support his mother, Carol, who was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease approximately six years ago. The challenge, which began in January of last year, has seen Madeley braving the North Sea and other oceans during holidays.
Beyond his personal goal, Madeley aimed to raise awareness for Parkinson's UK and has collected over £2,000, far exceeding his initial £300 target. He shared that the experience was demanding but ultimately invigorating, and his mother praised his efforts as "amazing" and expressed her gratitude for the funds and awareness raised.
Carol Madeley, 65, was diagnosed after experiencing symptoms like tremors and difficulty with fine motor skills. While medication has helped manage some symptoms, she highlighted the importance of her son's initiative in shedding light on the disease. Her husband, Steven, also expressed immense pride in their son's dedication.
