15 Nov
Summary
- Cunard is the only cruise line that welcomes pets onboard
- Dedicated kennels and a "kennelmaster" provide personalized care for canine passengers
- Chefs prepare gourmet pet menus, including homemade, heart-shaped dog biscuits

As of November 2025, Cunard Cruise Line remains the sole cruise company that welcomes pets onboard its ships. The historic cruise liner brand has a long-standing tradition of caring for animals that join their passengers on voyages, dating back to its 180 years of seafaring.
While modern regulations have made it difficult for other cruise lines to offer pet-friendly services, Cunard's flagship vessel, the Queen Mary 2, continues to accommodate up to 24 dogs per sailing on some of its transatlantic crossings from Southampton to New York. The cruise line goes to great lengths to ensure these four-legged passengers and their owners have a luxurious and comfortable experience.
Onboard the Queen Mary 2, a dedicated "kennelmaster" named Oliver is responsible for the care and well-being of the canine companions. He takes the dogs for regular walks around the ship's exterior decks, ensuring they get the exercise and attention they need. Meanwhile, the ship's culinary team prepares gourmet pet menus, including homemade, heart-shaped dog biscuits made with high-quality ingredients like rice powder, carob, and cinnamon. One passenger praised the "amazing" care provided by Oliver, saying he truly takes care of the dogs while their owners explore the ship.
Cunard's commitment to its animal guests is a testament to the cruise line's dedication to providing an exceptional experience for all its passengers, both two-legged and four-legged.
