From Streets to Support: A Crisis Christmas Success Story

A former rough sleeper, Con, is now a testament to the transformative power of the Crisis charity, a volunteer who once faced life on London's streets. Ten years ago, after losing his home and job, Con found himself homeless and in ill health. His life took a critical turn when he was hospitalized and diagnosed with serious conditions, prompting him to seek help from Crisis.

Thanks to the support received from a Crisis at Christmas day centre, Con was able to access essential services like food and showers, and crucially, sign up for long-term assistance. This support enabled him to receive medical treatment, including chemotherapy for cancer, and pursue training that led to employment. Today, Con is in good health and has a job in local government.

As the holiday season approaches, Con is preparing to volunteer at three special Crisis at Christmas day centres opening in London from December 24 to 28. These centres will offer vital services such as meals, healthcare, and housing support to anyone experiencing homelessness. Con encourages others in similar situations not to fear seeking help, emphasizing that organizations like Crisis are ready to provide open-ended support.
